Overview
Prof Sattar Bawany is the Managing Director & Master Executive Coach of EDA Asia Pacific. EDA is a global leader in executive and leadership development whose mission is to help organizations successfully address their marketplace challenges and accelerate the execution of their business strategy.
Sattar has over 25 years international business management experience, including 15 years in executive coaching, group facilitation, and leadership development and training with global management consulting firms. He also has over 15 years of academic experience as an adjunct professor teaching senior executives international business strategies and HR courses at leading universities.
Experience
He is currently the Co-Chair of the Human Capital Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (AmCham) and the Honorary Academic Advisor and Member of the Governing Council of The International Professional Managers Association (IPMA). He is also the Adjunct Professor of Strategic Management from the Paris Graduate School of Management (PGSM). His previous executive roles includes being the Managing Director and Regional Practice Head of Talent Development and Executive Coaching at DBM Asia Pacific, as well as holding senior management positions with other global HR consulting firms such as Mercer HR Consulting, Forum Corporation and Hay Group.
Sattar has coached a range of leaders, from CEOs, to senior vice presidents and high potential managers. His current work in organisations focuses on encouraging individual initiative and leadership from a systemic perspective in order to achieve clearly defined business results. His specialty is effectively linking people processes to business outcomes. A seasoned coach, Sattar truly cares about others, listens with an open mind and adds value in unexpected ways.
He is a keynote speaker at international and regional conferences, workshops and seminars on the following themes: executive leadership development, employee engagement and managing across the generational gap, strategic human resource management, and talent management and succession planning.
He is a graduate of Corporate Coach U and a licensed Coaching Clinic facilitator. He is certified in the administration and application of various psychometric instruments including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator™ (MBTI), Bar-On EQ 360™ and EQ-i™. He is also accredited in the administration and application of the CCL’s Benchmarks® and Skillscope® profiling instruments.
Prof Bawany is one of the contributing authors for the first-ever book on “Coaching in Asia: The First Decade” which was published in September 2010. His Chapter is on “Maximising the Potential of Future Leaders: Resolving Leadership Succession Crisis” which focusses on how to develop a company’s leadership pipeline with the view of delivering its “next generation” of ready-now leaders.
Sattar holds an Executive MBA from Golden Gate University, US, and a Bachelor in Business Administration (Marketing) from Curtin University, Australia.
Personal
Sattar is very well regarded by his clients for his practical “how to” approach and for his ability to communicate with his audiences and to make workplace learning a fun and pleasurable experience. Married with 2 children, he believes strongly in work-life balance and is highly dedicated and committed to achieving his goals.
