When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do? – John Maynard Keynes
Leading indicators and data sets are showcasing that the global economy is roaring back to life. Despite the pandemic flaring up and its disastrous consequences in places like India at the moment, we are entering the recovery phase of the pandemic – and in parts of the world – even an expansionary phase. Some future forecasts are extrapolating that the US economy will significantly outsize pre-pandemic forecasts for the year 2022 – thanks to huge stimulus packages and a re-set of the economy and investments in sustainable technologies. In Australia, consumer confidence is the highest in over a decade and in many nations house prices are hitting record highs, and for those consumers lucky enough to have been able to save during the pandemic slowdown, huge disposable incomes are about to be unleashed into the retail economy – with cascading effects across the whole economy.
