Entrepreneur and innovator Azran Osman-Rani took the stage at the APAC Atmosphere 2016 Aruba event at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore just last month.
As the current CEO of iflix Malaysia and COO of the iflix group, Azran was able to share his insights on “Mobile-led Revolution for Television in Emerging Markets”.
Innovating internet television delivery in emerging markets requires resolving critical issues of internet infrastructure limitations and under-developed online payment channels, while confronting dominant incumbent pay TV operators, global giants and the pervasive threat of piracy. Iflix was launched in May 2015 to exploit the rapid growth in mobile broadband connectivity for emerging markets consumers, and deploy a cloud-based architecture that allows it to rapidly scale across multiple countries and deliver a unique product proposition to consumers.

Azran Osman-Rani knows what it takes to build business from the ground up and sustain it through innovative products and services.
Azran was the founding CEO of AirAsia X at the age of 36 and was able to grow the airline from a single aircraft to 26, employing over 2,500 team members, and being the first low-cost, long-haul airline to be publicly-listed in 2013.
In addition to leadership roles in the aviation, media & technology, and capital markets sectors, Azran is a former McKinsey & Company and Booz Allen & Hamilton management consultant, and a Stanford University alumnus. He is an Ironman triathlete and loves adventure travel.
He also currently Chairs the Advisory Board for the Asia Business Centre, Curtin Business School in Australia. He holds Board positions with PT XL Axiata in Indonesia and Apex Investment Services in Malaysia. He Chairs the Malaysian Chapter of YPO. He also advises start-ups and high-growth businesses through Endeavor Malaysia, Kairos Society, and the Cyberview Living Lab Accelerator programme and is currently the CEO of iflix in Malaysia, and its Group COO.
