Rob Lilwall – Life is an Adventure

Rob Lilwall, motivational speaker, gave a talk for TEDx HKUST about what it takes to pursue (and succeed in) a passion as unconventional as his. Rob cycled from Siberia back to London via Australia, and walked for 6 months in the winter, through the dessert, from Mongolia back to Hong Kong. Check out his talk below…

Rob Lilwall is a British-born, Hong Kong-based TV adventurer, writer and motivational speaker. His expeditions have seen him travelling on foot, by bicycle, and by boat, through some of harshest corners on earth, including the frozen wastelands of Siberia, the hidden valleys of China, and the lonely passes of Afghanistan. His two most extraordinary expeditions, Cycling Home From Siberia and Walking Home From Mongolia, were commissioned as television series for National Geographic, and his motivational talks have enthralled tens of thousands of people in Asia, Australia, Europe and America.

When speaking to corporate and business audiences, Rob relates the ever-growing challenges of the 21st century workplace to his own, at times hilarious, at times deadly serious, trials and tribulations in the wild lands of the world. He contends that with the right attitudes we can achieve more than we ever thought possible. Rob’s presentations are ideal for conferences where, alongside technical topics geared for the business, there is also a need for a captivating motivational message.

Through telling stories from his adventures, whether it be walking across the Gobi in winter, or pushing a bicycle through the jungles of Papua New Guinea, Rob expounds upon the following attitudes and principles of adventure for application in every sphere of life.
