Born in Ireland, Kyran Bracken could have worn the green of the Emerald isle, but as a baby moved to Liverpool and went on to win the Rugby World Cup with the English rose on his chest in 2003.
On the pitch, Kyran could pass accurately off both hands, was a strong defender, kicked well and always posed an attacking threat with great speed from a standing start.
Kyran made his England debut against the All Blacks in 1993. Throughout his career he fiercely contested the scrum half jersey with Matt Dawson, and then Austin Healey. However, during this highly competitive period for English quality international number nines and over a 10 year period, Kyran won 51 caps. His final England appearance came in the ’03 World Cup against France.
Qualified in law from Bristol University, when the game went professional he transferred from Bristol RFC to Saracens in 1996. A highly respected and popular player for both his club and for his country, he captained England on three occasions as well as leading Saracens for two seasons. He also toured with the British & Irish Lions to South Africa in 1997.
Kyran retired from the game at the close of the 2005/06 season, but remains close to the game. He has previously coached at Leicester Tigers, and currently is contracted to coach/mentor the scrum halves at Premiership Champions, Harlequins.
An intelligent guy and a very talented speaker, he is regularly called upon to MC events and give business speeches. He’s insightful, has the ability to educate, engage and entertain an audience and is always great fun to be around.
Popular with the media, he appears frequently on the BBC and Sky Sports TV amongst other channels, in addition to appearing on the pages of publications such as Hello! & Ok!, Men’s Health and GQ.
In 2007 viewers of ITV’s Dancing on Ice enjoyed Kyran’s skating prowess as did the judges. He endeared himself to the public and presented himself in a fantastic light winning the show, in addition to the Champion of Champions edition.
Kyran is entrepreneurial and is not afraid of taking risks. He has an impressive property portfolio that spans North London, Jersey, Ireland and South Africa and he now owns and runs a touring ice skating show, Kyran’s Ice Party as well as having other business interests.
Kyran lives in North London with his wife Victoria and their three boys.
